Sonja Griffing

Editor

Sonja Griffing is an award-winning author who earned her Certificate in Editing from the University of Washington, where she also holds a B.A. in Creative Writing, a Master's in Teaching, and a certificate in Writing for Children. Sonja has spent more than a dozen years immersed in the world of writing, has published multiple contemporary fiction novels both traditionally and independently, has been recognized in multiple competitions for her short stories and essays, and has a screenwriting credit on IMDB.

Since there is no single path in any story, Sonja believes that most writers just need a little guidance and support. Every story is worth telling well and worth sharing with the people who need to read it. Since readers (and authors) process their world through the written word, Sonja’s goal is to ensure that every reader feels there is a place held for them in every book, and that every author feels they’ve stayed true to their vision.

Stacey Eck

Editor

Stacey Eck is a certified editor and co-founder of Open Door Editing. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Washington, and she recently returned to earn a Certificate in Editing from the University of Washington’s Professional and Continuing Education program. She has extensive training in developmental editing, structural editing, copyediting, proofreading, grammar, and digital content creation. Stacey has over a dozen years of experience as a developmental editor, copyeditor, and proofreader for numerous published novels.

Stacey has a keen eye for detail and has genuinely always loved books, language, and the power of well-edited writing. (Yes, she marked up a book at the age of ten because she couldn’t stand the typos.) She’s also a firm believer that language should be clear, respectful, and inclusive, and she wants your story to connect with as many readers as possible. Whether you’ve just typed “The End” or you’re still trying to wrestle your plot into submission, she’s here to help you turn your story into the best version it can be. Her goal is simple: let’s polish your writing, one carefully chosen word at a time.
